the 5-minute coffee companion you can’t start your homeschool day without.

One Inspiring Quote

“Homeschooling will certainly produce some socially awkward adults, but the odds are good they would have been just as quirky had they spent twelve years raising their hand for permission to go to the bathroom.”

Two Tried & True Homeschool Tips

1. You must learn to be in radical pursuit of what works for you and your family. That is a constant process of stripping away the distractions, the unnecessary, the things that are good but not great. Hear more in my chat with fellow working homeschooler, Charlotte Jones.

2. If you’re tired of trying to fill the long, lazy summer afternoons . . . don’t. Some boredom can be good, not just for the kids but for us too. It can be painful at first. Treat it like those first few steps into the icy pool. As you let yourself acclimatize, you’ll start to enjoy!

Three Can’t-Miss Educational Resources

1. Before you start back to school, help your middle or high schooler brush up on some study skills. Here is a quick video with tips for how to highlight.

2. Access tons of primary source history materials without having to travel to university libraries. Search Fordham University’s Internet History Sourcebook Project for a wealth of primary source materials!

3. Just in time for Independence Day, learn about the science of fireworks.
